Midday Mantra: New Year New Sounds, with Dal Singh
Sampad and B: Music welcome audiences for an afternoon of music, light and connection during the darker days of winter. Ring in the new year with this exciting concert, featuring Dal Singh and Band.
Dal Singh, known as the TablaJedi, is world renowned as one of the most respected tabla players in the UK and beyond. Dal trained in Indian Classical Music under the watchful eyes of his Tabla Guru, Ustad Sukhvinder Singh Pinky.
He has become a sought after Tabla player in the world of popular music and has toured globally with artists such as Noel Gallagher, Paul Weller, Ian Brown, Richard Ashcroft, Marillion and Ocean Colour Scene to name a few. Dal is currently working with The Stone Roses guitarist, Aziz Ibrahim in an innovative Asian Blues band.

Tyriq Baker – Piano
Multi-instrumentalist, singer/songwriter, actor, composer and producer based in Birmingham. He has composed music for the 2022 Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony. His main creative forces are expressed through piano and saxophone.
Vig – Spoken Word
Birmingham-based multidisciplinary freelancer, notably a slam-winning spoken word poet, script + screenwriter, host, facilitator and producer. Vig uses art to inspire, challenge stereotypes and champion marginalised voices.
Midday Mantra from Sampad South Asian Arts & Heritage is a journey into the soul-stirring melodies that define South Asian music. Our year-round series of lunchtime concerts provide enriching cultural experiences for all ages and backgrounds, with a captivating blend of classical, folk, and contemporary styles. Featured artists are usually announced within 4 weeks of performances.
